This is why at Enhance Body clinic we use Nd:yag laser to diminish age spots and sun damage and remove broken red veins and diffused redness from the surface of our skin. The after effect means having a clear youthful complexion that can be maintained once a year. We can also treat red veins on the legs and this has proven to be a particularly popular treatment as other red vein treatments on the legs can be much more invasive.

What is ND:YAG laser?
Nd:YAG is a specific type of laser which delivers a burst of energy using longer pulse durations. This is more controlled and gentle, yet the laser reaches the deeper layers in the skin without affecting the surrounding tissues
How does the treatment work ?
For red veins the laser uses a thermal reaction to cauterize the blood supply under the skin therefore removing the red vein. For pigmentation the laser lifts the sun damage up from under the skin and then exfoliates itself leaving a clearer skin underneath. Not all skin types are suitable for this treatment and would be subject to consultation.
How many treatments will I need to have ?
Average number of Treatment sessions would be 3 to 4 with a monthly interval in between and ideally this is a winter treatment.
Once you have completed the laser sessions this will not stop any new red veins or pigmentation appearing, so we recommend good products to support the skin and a yearly top up session of the laser.
Is there anything I need to do prior to my laser session?
We recommend to avoid tanning for 30 days prior to treatment. Please let us know about any medication you take and/or may start taking prior to any laser session, this is because some medications are photosentive and we need to take the appropriate precautions to cater to this.
What can I expect after treatment
Depending on your skin type (and the vein being treated) some redness and mild swelling may be visible, but will usually subside around 48 hours after treatment. Pigmentation patches may appear darker around 5-7 days later. All of these side effects are normal and signs of a successful treatment.
